Is there an easy way to get my system set up for Agent?
After weeks trying to figure out why Agent didn't run on certain systems, we decided to investigate a better way. It turns out that some of the speech engines (German and Spanish) don't uninstall correctly. In addition, the instructions for setting up on limited user accounts under XP and 2000 were also incorrect, and caused Agent to crash if you clicked on it. So, we created the Microsoft Agent Installer!
Simply Download Now by clicking here and save it to a runnable location on your hard disk. Then run the file agentnst.exe. Install the components you want by clicking the buttons, and the program will automatically download the correct files from the internet onto your disk, and install them. It couldn't be easier than that.
Do I need to do anything to install Microsoft® Agent?
Microsoft® Agent is installed as standard on Windows® XP and Windows® 2000. Under Windows® 2000 speech engines are also included. Microsoft suggest you go to the agent website, and download all of the components individually. If you are running an earlier operating system, you can get Microsoft® Agent by using the button below.
Why doesn't the agent speak on my system?
Microsoft® agent requires SAPI 4.0, which is available from the Microsoft® Agent website.. It may also be necessary to install a speech engine onto your system. These too are available from the preceding link. In addition, the agent cannot speak if another application is using the sound card. Finally there are problems with the TTS3000 speech engines (UK English, Spanish, French and German). Details for administrators can also be found on the agent home page.. Use the link below.
How can I find out more about Microsoft® Agent?
Microsoft® provides free downloads from www.microsoft.com/msagent. It includes support for different speech engines, and other characters.
Where can I get other characters
There are many Agent characters available on the web, and www.msagentring.org/chars.htm seems to list quite a few. The offical Microsoft® agent characters are also available from their website, or by clicking the buttons below. Save the file to your disk, and after the download is complete, open the folder, and run the program.
