Setting up your first show

Now open up the sample show, show1.layout

You'll see that it has an image of some crocuses, as well as some details for the show. If you want to modify this show or create a new one, the first thing you should do is save it as a new show. To do this:

Choose where the show appears on your website

Click the options button. When you do this, you will see some settings for the size of your images. Most of these have been configured correctly. At this stage you only need to enter the name of the folder you want your show to appear in. To do this:

When you click Create! the software will generate a landing page for your exhibition, as well as a popup page for each image, and a page that contains thumbnails of each image. After publishing on your website, you can see the welcome page for the exhibition at http://www.example.com/show2 where you substitute your website name for example.com.

Clicking on the image on that page will take you to the thumbnails page.

Clicking on one of the thumbnails will pop up a new window that gives a slideshow tour.

Storing your original artwork

We recommend that you store original images in a folder named originals, in a sub folder that has the same name as the name of your show.

The best strategy is to copy all of your originals to this directory before you begin.

Then drag and drop the images (either one at a time, or all at once) onto the rectangular box below the Delete button. This will link in all of the pictures you drop. You can also select a picture by double clicking this box.

Adding new images

To add a new image, select the item you want to insert after and press insert. Then select the picture you want, and then type in the information about the picture.

Publish

Choose Publish... from the File menu.

You will be prompted for your FTP password, and then the software will upload the data for the show you created.

While some of your site has been uploaded to your website, it isn't quite ready to go live. There are just a couple more short steps.
